Go Karts

Go Karts

“The rising perception that ATVs aren’t safe has led to the boom in sales [of go-karts and buggies]. Every year more kids get injured on ATVs, while the go-kart tends to be safer, since it has a roll cage and riders are strapped in,” stated Joel Martin, president of Martin Racing Performance. Due to this increased interest by consumers in go-karts and buggies, we here at ATV-Industry magazine have decided to provide you with this brand new Market Report on the latest go-kart and buggy models from some of the industry’s leading companies.

John Burns, CEO and president of Team Joyner told us the Joyner 1,100cc Trooper 4x4 has more standard features than any other competitor, such as a 5PT harness, quick release seatbelts, comfortable suspension seats, reinforced interlocking roll-cage, sport dash console with gauges and switch panel, as well as pushbutton 2WD or 4x4 with differential locks to switch between LSD to fully locked, trailing arm suspension, polished wheels with Joyner mud pro tires, sport light bar, safari bed with spare tire mount, front mounted winch and much more, described Burns. In the go-kart/buggy market, Burns said he has noticed these vehicles have more suspension travel and higher performance than in the past. “The poor quality from some manufacturers in China give this market a bad rep; dealers must investigate the brand name before selling [these vehicles],” he said. Retailers should be aware of the products regarding safety features, Burns stated. He continued by saying, “Consumers are too concerned with price rather than safety, when they purchase other lower priced vehicles; they do not get the safety features that are standard on our vehicles and are at higher risk for injury if an accident were to occur.” According to Burns the company’s sales are down compared to last year’s, but they are hopeful that they will be able to open an east coast distribution center within the next few months. “Baby boomers are getting older and have more disposable income and they are looking for safe recreational vehicles for themselves and their families,” he noted, “Our vehicles are safer than ATVs and we expect that the trend will move towards the alternative recreational vehicles within the next two to three years.”
